This is a question we get asked a lot. And the answer is a definite yes! It's totally possible to make webcam modelling your full time job. However there are a few things you need to be aware of before you take the plunge.
Don't quit the day job just yet
Before you hand in your notice, make sure that cam is 100% for you.
Some people sign up to cam and after a few shows, realise it's not for them. You need to be totally sure that it's what you want to do full time. Try it out for a few months and see how you feel. By this point you'll also have a better idea of how much you can earn and so you can weigh it up from a financial perspective.
Get your finances in order
It's a good idea to review your finances, to be sure that whatever you make on cam will more than cover your monthly expenditure. Setting yourself a weekly or monthly budget can really help with this. You'll also want to factor in any additional costs to help support with your cam role, such as purchasing new outfits or equipment.
As a webcam model you are classed as self employed and so are responsible for paying your own tax and national insurance. Do some research into this before hand. The Gov.UK website is a great place to start. Many full-time models opt to use the services of an accountant, and although there is a cost to this, you might find that the time saved is a good investment.
Set yourself goals
One of the main benefits for many people is the flexibility to work when you want. This however can also mean it's easy not to work, as you have no set hours and a boss telling you what to do and when. Set yourself a schedule, or goals to aim for. This will help give you something to work to and will keep you on track, ensuring you hit your financial goals.
Don't forget to take time out
It's also really important to take some time out for you. As a webcam model you mostly work on your own, and so it can be isolating for some people. Make sure you take some time out each day for you. Meet up with friends and family, go for a walk or to the gym, or just take some time to chill out. It's important to always put your wellbeing first.
